PERFORMANCES took place July 13-16, 2006 - 7:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Co-op Plaza. Eight new plays by local playwrights were selected from over a dozen submissions and presented in a reader's theatre format at this year's festival, which took place July 13-16, 2006. As part of our mission to strengthen the theatre community in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, FTW has hosted an annual New Play Project each summer since July 2004, in which over twenty local playwrights have submitted works, excerpts of which were presented by local actors in a formal Readers Theatre presentation. Based on feedback from audiences and other criteria, John Webb's The Sound of Steel was selected for full production in the 2005 season. Ticket prices were $7 each night or $11 for a "Weekend Pass" (all 8 plays). A portion of all proceeds were donated to Operation Shoestring, a local children's charity, and The One: Campaign to End Poverty.
